Ford’s adventure caravan brings supplies and smiles to Luang Prabang school In an enterprising venture designed to bring smiles and laughter to a school in Luang Prabang, the Lao Ford family organised a charity event dubbed the Next-Gen Ford Adventure Caravan.
The event saw a convoy of 43 Ford vehicles travel from Vientiane to Luang Prabang province and back from February 2-4, carrying clothes and educational equipment for delivery to Nong Chong Primary School in Chomphet district.
Lao Ford City, together with some of their enthusiastic customers, organised the convoy, which comprised Next-Gen Ranger XLT, Next-Gen Ranger Raptor, and Next-Gen Everest models.
The trip was challenging because of the steep hills and narrow winding roads, but the rugged strength of the Ford vehicles meant they were all able to negotiate the difficult terrain without any problems.
Travelling up and down steep mountains, customers were able put Ford’s advanced driving systems to the test including the hill descent system, brake system using auto hold, 4×4 drive capability, and other technological innovations.
The purpose of the trip was to deliver clothing and educational equipment for use by students and staff at Nong Chong Primary School, where the drivers were welcomed by the school administrator, teachers, children and village authorities.
The equipment included desktop computers with speakers for use in the teaching of foreign languages, printers, textbooks for use in Grades 1 to 5, notebooks, pencils, erasers, rulers, school signs, sports clothing, baskets, footballs, school uniforms, jackets, and food.
The total cost of the donated items was 210 million kip, of which 165 million kip was provided by Lao Ford City and 45 million kip by customers taking part in the charity event.
The occasion was full of fun and happy smiles and was greatly enjoyed by both the givers and recipients.
